Immerse yourself in the natural world and unlock the secrets of wild, edible plants during this enriching workshop. Focused on abundant, delicious, and nutritious edible weeds, you'll leave with a newfound eagerness to forage in your own backyard and neighborhood.

Our journey includes a wander to discover, identify, taste, and discuss freely growing wild edible plants. This immersive, outdoor, multi-sensory learning experience covers:

  • Basic principles of sustainable and ethical foraging and wild harvesting
  • Botanical names of plants and their various common names
  • Confident identification of 10-20 wild plants, including details about lookalikes and plants to avoid
  • Nutritional and medicinal properties of each plant, along with simple home remedies
  • Preparation techniques for maximum nutrition and flavor, with discussions on easy recipes and cooking tips
  • Folklore and history of each plant, offering fascinating and often amusing stories from our ancestors

Feel empowered with the skills and knowledge to deepen your connection to food, enhance local food resilience, and secure your own supply throughout the natural cycles of the seasons. After this workshop, you can skip the supermarket and gather your own wild greens for dinner on the way home.

Commence the experience with a cup of herbal tea, concluding the session with the enjoyment of a delicious snack crafted from seasonally available wild ingredients—ranging from wild salads to weedy pesto, pickled greens, or herb-infused butter, depending on the season.

Class sizes are limited to provide ample space for questions, so secure your spot early to avoid missing out. Upon booking, you'll receive an email with the exact location and further details for the workshop, held in Raumati South, Kapiti, New Zealand.

Please note that no refunds will be issued for a change of mind or personal calendar conflicts. In the event of unfavorable weather, we'll collaboratively determine a new date for the workshop.

Highly recommended

I had been asked about foraging at a youth group I help with, it was amazing to find out the nutritional value and medicinal properties of the "weeds" I have been pulling out for years.
Felicity has a wealth of knowledge and experience, and makes the workshops more interesting by sharing background information on the plants.
Book in, you will be amazed

Well worth doing.

Felicity is a fountain of knowledge , really knows her stuff. I did her Kapiti foraging workshop recently . With a view to becoming more self sufficient as I feel that this is going to be very important in years to come . She gave me the knowledge to be confident in identifying plants and using them for their health benefits .
I would recommend Felicity’s foraging workshops to anyone it’s certainly very empowering. I will look at doing more in the future. Thanks Felicity for sharing your knowledge and your dedication . 😊

Confidence to forage!

Having recently attended one of Felicity's foraging workshops I am now much more confident at identifying the various 'weeds' that grow in abundance in my own 'wild' garden. Felicity's guidance was easy and clear to understand. It was a most enjoyable way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Delicious salad and marinated mushrooms were a bonus! I can't wait to try some of the pesto and tea recipes from the foraging booklet I purchased and also to try out my new thermette, happy days!!

Very useful and practical workshop

Felicity concentrated on a handful of species, teaching us how to recognise them and identify their lookalikes, and how to use them. We came away confident in our ability to use these species and have enjoyed some tasty salads since!

Kapiti Foraging Workshop

I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and learnt so much. Would love to do more of this learning to build confidence and understanding of what we can and can’t eat.

Kapiti Foraging Workshop

Absolutely loved the time spent on this workshop with Felicity - who would have thought weeds would be so interesting, useful and beneficial, well Felicity obviously, but not me until I attended this workshop. I am now obsessed with identifying them when out walking - although my partner is treating my new knowledge with caution ;-)

Wonderful afternoon learning how to forage

Really interesting afternoon, I am much more confident about identifying edible garden plants now. I was surprised to see how many I already have growing in my garden when I got home!
