Indigo blue handcrafted Ikat scarf from Jepara, Java.
Ikat is a special style of weaving found in traditional villages across Indonesia. What makes ikat special/ different from many other traditionally woven fabrics is the fact that the cotton yarn is dyed BEFORE it is woven. This makes it very difficult to weave ikat.
This ikat has been handselected during my travels in Central Java. This is from Jepara region. Handwoven from cotton using traditional ikat weaving methods.
This ikat has been naturally dyed with Indigo to create bright blue tones. I have only ONE indigo ikat scarf.
