Medicinal Mushrooms

Turkey Tails grow abundantly on dead wood and I often have them flush up in my vege garden, as I use old wood to border the garden beds.
Turkey Tails (Trametes Versicolor) are highly regarded for their medicinal uses, offering immune enhancing, antitumor, antiviral, antibacterial and antioxidant properties.
I like adding freshly foraged Turkey Tails & Ganoderma, along with dried Reishi, Shiitake, or Chaga to my daily brews.
My ‘daily brew’ is a rolling pot of various medicinal plants, seeds & roots constantly brewing on my stovetop. Roots & Mushrooms are best ‘decocted’ – simmered for 20-30mins to extract their medicinal properties. Make sure you don’t skip this important extraction process, or you’ll waste a lot of the medicinal potency of your mushrooms.
Reishi is known as the King of all medicinal mushrooms, very highly regarded in China, known to have significant anti-tumor, immune-enhancing, cholesterol reducing properties as well as being a rich source of antioxidants. It’s drunk in tea regularly to maintain & support wellbeing & longevity.
Reishi is a type of Ganoderma aka bracket fungus...
Chaga is another highly regarded medicinal mushroom, which has anti-inflammatory, antitumor, antibacterial, antiviral & cholesterol reducing properties. Chaga often grows on birch trees, and is a very hard canker which looks a lot like burnt charcoal.
Shiitake is the 2nd most cultivated mushroom in the world! Known for it’s immune modulating, cholesterol reducing, antiviral & liver fortifying properties.
